Working pregnant women in Belarus have certain guarantees.

The press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection reminded about this on Telegram.

What guarantees do working pregnant women have?

Pregnant women are prohibited from being sent on business trips or involved in overtime work, work on holidays and public holidays, weekends, or at night.

A pregnant woman's salary cannot be reduced for reasons related to pregnancy.

An employment contract with a pregnant woman may not be terminated at the initiative of the employer due to: unsuitability for the work performed or the position held due to a health condition that prevents continued work; failure to show up for work for more than 4 months in a row due to temporary disability (not counting maternity leave); reduction in staff/number of employees.

Pregnant women may be transferred to light work. In accordance with the conclusion of the medical advisory commission or medical rehabilitation expert commission, the production standards and service standards are reduced. Pregnant women are transferred to lighter work and work that excludes exposure to harmful and dangerous production factors (while maintaining the average salary for the previous job).

Pregnant women are granted labor and social leave. Maternity leave lasts 126 calendar days, in case of complicated childbirth, birth of two or more children – 140 days.

If a woman lives and works in a radioactively contaminated area, the duration of the leave is 146 days (in case of complicated childbirth, the birth of two or more children – 160 days).

The employer is obliged to provide the woman with work leave before or after maternity leave (provided that it is not used in full).

After maternity leave, the employer grants leave to care for a child until the child reaches three years of age. This leave can be used in full or in parts of any duration.
