Belarusians, despite all the efforts of law enforcement, continue to fill the lists of victims of telephone scammers.

The only good news is that there are more and more cases of couriers who arrive to collect money being detained and compensation for damages to victims.

A 79-year-old pensioner from Baranovichi found herself in a similar situation, the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus reports.

The woman believed the story about the accident and decided to sacrifice her savings to save her granddaughter.

The scammers who called convinced the citizen that her granddaughter was facing criminal liability, which could only be avoided by handing over the money to the courier.

The courier did not keep her waiting long, and the woman handed him almost 30 thousand rubles in equivalent.

Only thanks to the prompt actions of the criminal investigation department of the Baranovichi City Department of Internal Affairs was the identity of the messenger established.

Soon the suspect himself was caught red-handed.

He turned out to be a 20-year-old resident of Lyakhovichi, who admitted that he got a job as a courier via the Internet, and that this was the first assignment in his work record.

The money was confiscated from the detainee and will be given to the victim.

A criminal case for fraud has been opened.

Law enforcement officials once again remind that if you receive such calls, you should stop the conversation and report the incident to the police.

The so-called couriers bear responsibility equally with other participants in the criminal scheme.
