On October 7, it became known that physical force and special means will be used against all types of unmanned aerial vehicles in Belarus.
Decree No. 392, which provides for these changes, was signed the day before by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
The new version of Decree No. 215 of June 5, 2019 "On the suppression of flights of aircraft models and unmanned aerial vehicles" provides for the use of physical force and special means against all types of UAVs, the press service of the head of state reports.
It is specified that this is not only about unmanned aerial vehicle models.
The effect of the regulatory legal act applies to all drones, that is:
- aircraft,
- vehicles, including underwater and surface vehicles,
- ground-based devices and complexes, “the control of which is carried out remotely or in automatic mode.”
The changes were made with the aim of securing the right to use physical force, special means, as well as weapons, military and special equipment in relation to the listed types of drones.
The decree grants the right to use weapons and special means against drones to military personnel of military formations and internal affairs agencies.
Employees of other paramilitary organizations, including:
- prosecutor's office,
- Investigative Committee,
- State Committee of Forensic Expertise,
- financial investigation bodies of the State Control Committee,
- State Inspectorate for the Protection of Flora and Fauna under the President of the Republic of Belarus,
- as well as emergency response agencies and departments and customs authorities.
