At the beginning of this year, Belarusian teacher Tatyana Karpechenko turned 100 years old.
She spent 35 of them teaching mathematics at Alexandria Secondary School.

For four years, Tatyana Karpechenko was the class teacher of the man who became President of Belarus in 1994.
And the teacher has something to remember about the famous student.

Tatyana Karpechenko met Alexander Lukashenko in 1965. At that time, the future head of state was a fifth-grader.
According to the teacher, her student was a tall boy who always dressed neatly.
Even then, Tatyana Karpechenko drew attention to Alexander Lukashenko’s hard work:

For some time, Tatyana Karpechenko and Alexander Lukashenko were colleagues: for some time, the future president taught at his native school.
Journalists asked Karpechenko whether she thought that her student and colleague would become a state leader.
