05.10.2024 04:30

On October 5, the Russian Orthodox Church honors the memory of the Prophet Jonah and the Holy Martyr Phocas, Bishop of Sinope.

In the folk calendar this day is called Jonah's Day or Foka the Wind-Governer. The names Listoder and Listopadnaya are also known.

We will tell you which natural phenomena of today predict the weather for the coming winter.

Traditions of the holiday

The day of October 5 was called leaf-fall because of the strong wind.

There is a belief that today the wind tears leaves from the trees and if this does not happen, then an early winter should not be expected.
