Some citizens of Belarus will receive significant pension increases and a number of benefits.
This is provided for in the bill on veterans' issues, adopted by deputies in the second reading.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the document initiates the strengthening of social guarantees for the following categories of Belarusians:
- WWII veterans;
- former prisoners of fascism;
- internationalist soldiers;
- members of the families of deceased military personnel.
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War
As for WWII veterans, there are three subcategories in this category.
The first are citizens who have been awarded orders or medals of the USSR for impeccable military service in the rear.
The following is offered to them:
– grant the status of participants in the Great Patriotic War;
– increase the pension supplement from 50% to 250% of the minimum old-age pension or from 54 to 270 rubles (as of October 2024);
– provide annual financial assistance for health improvement in the amount of 10 basic units (400 rubles).
The second subcategory is those awarded orders or medals of the USSR for selfless work in the rear.
For these citizens the following is offered:
– increase the pension supplement from 50% to 100% of the minimum old-age pension or from 54 to 108 rubles (as of October 2024);
– provide the right to priority service in healthcare organizations, as well as priority hospitalization.
The third subcategory – those awarded the medal “For the Defense of Leningrad”, the badge “Resident of Blockaded Leningrad”, as well as those who worked at air defense facilities and in the construction of other military facilities.
They are offered the right to priority service in healthcare organizations and priority hospitalization.
Former concentration camp prisoners
As for former prisoners of fascist concentration camps, the following benefits are provided for them:
– free medicines and technical means of social rehabilitation;
– free spa treatment and health improvement;
– free production and repair of dentures;
– priority service in healthcare organizations and priority hospitalization;
– priority use of all types of communication services, physical education and health services, services of cultural organizations,
– the right to purchase tickets for all types of transport out of turn;
– preferential (including priority) service by retail and consumer services organizations.
Combat veterans, Afghan war veterans
For veterans of military operations in other countries, the following is offered:
– reduce the retirement age by 5 years (for those who received disabled status in peacetime);
– provide the right to free medicines, social rehabilitation facilities, spa treatment and health improvement, production and repair of dentures;
– priority service in healthcare organizations and priority hospitalization.
For Afghan war veterans, a monthly pension increase of 100% of the minimum old-age pension or 108 rubles (as of October 2024) is envisaged.
Spouses of deceased military personnel who have not remarried are offered free medications, as well as spa treatment and health improvement.
The Ministry of Labor noted that the implementation of this draft law covers approximately 30,000 Belarusians.
