Belarus May Have a “Belarusian Card”: What is it and When is it Planned to Launch

By 2030, a new identity card may appear in Belarus – the “Belarusian Card”.

This follows from the draft National Strategy for Sustainable Development until 2040 prepared by the Ministry of Economy.

The draft strategy includes, among other things, goals for sustainable demographic development.

According to the document, in 2026-2030, special emphasis will be placed on state management of migration processes.

For this purpose, the concept of an integrated personal identification information system “Belarusian Card” will be developed.

It will provide for diversification of the cost of services in education, healthcare, housing and communal services and other areas depending on the status of residence.

The draft strategy has been submitted for public discussion. Proposals can be sent to the Ministry of Economy by e-mail (prognoz@economy.gov.by) until October 16.
