As is known, eggshells contain calcium, as well as potassium, phosphorus and other microelements necessary for plant nutrition.

In addition, the shell is used when it is necessary to return acidic soil to a normal pH level.

Finally, crushed eggshells are added to the soil to increase its looseness and water permeability.

But if you are going to evaluate the effectiveness of this supplement, consider whether it is worth the effort.

Why You Shouldn't Use Eggshells in Your Garden

Let us explain: the weight of the shell of an average egg is 7-10 grams.

If you are going to add the shells to the soil in dry form, you will need 500 grams per square meter, that is, 50-75 eggs.

Therefore, it is worth considering the rationality of such a decision. Perhaps it will be easier and cheaper to use ready-made fertilizers and preparations.

However, there is another option - to prepare liquid fertilizer, for which you need about 100 grams of shell, that is, only 10-15 eggs.
