Who needs benefits when entering universities: the opinion of Belarusians
According to the results of a sociological study, citizens of our country believe that vulnerable social groups are the ones who need benefits first and foremost.
Thus, the main “applicants” for benefits, according to respondents, are orphans (30.3 percent of respondents), children from large families (27.1 percent), and children with disabilities (23.4 percent).
The following categories are mentioned further: winners of Olympiads and competitions (19 percent), holders of school gold medals (14.2 percent).
According to a number of respondents, benefits for admission to higher education institutions should be given to children from single-parent families (11.2 percent), children from low-income families (9.2 percent), and those who studied and received a certificate in rural schools (6.9 percent).
It is worth noting that 9.9 percent of respondents believed that there should be no benefits at all when entering universities.
The total number of respondents was 900. The sampling error is estimated at 3.3 percent.
