The Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus is investigating the circumstances of the release from punishment under an amnesty of the convicted V. N. Kilesso in connection with the posting of an appeal by the victims on the social network TikTok.
The press service of the supervisory agency reported this on Telegram.
Why is the audit being conducted?
In April of this year, Kilesso was convicted of a traffic accident committed in January that resulted in the death of a minor through negligence.
The driver was sober. Several years before the crime, he had been treated for cancer.
In accordance with the amnesty act, he was released from punishment due to the presence of oncology.
In their appeal, the parents of the deceased point out that the release of the convicted person is unjustified and express doubts about whether he has the indicated diagnosis.
At the initiative of the Prosecutor General's Office, an examination was ordered, and it was conducted by disinterested specialists from the healthcare system.
Prosecutor General Andrei Shved received the victims in person and is monitoring the progress of the investigation.
