On Tuesday, September 3, a fire broke out in the Chernobyl exclusion zone in Ukraine.
Experts said the fire covered an area of approximately 420 hectares.
Belhydromet reported whether the incident affected the radiation situation in Belarus.
In particular, the head of the radiation monitoring service of the Republican Center for Hydrometeorology, Control of Radioactive Pollution and Environmental Monitoring of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Oleg Dyubaylo, told Belta about this.
According to him, the radiation situation in Belarus and in the area affected by the Chernobyl nuclear power plant remains stable.
According to the specialist, this is evidenced by data obtained at stationary radiation monitoring observation points and automatic radiation control points in the zones of influence of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
He clarified that the gamma radiation dose rate levels are within the established long-term values.
Experts did not register any negative changes related to the radiation situation in the country.
