The Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus has not ruled out the possibility of pardoning other people convicted of protest-related crimes in the future.
The corresponding statement was made on September 4 by Prosecutor General Andrei Shved, commenting on the new decree of the head of state on pardon.
The words of the head of the supervisory agency are quoted by BELTA .
What Shved said about the possibility of pardoning other convicts
As the Prosecutor General reported, next week there will be another meeting of the commission on the return of citizens to their homeland, which is tasked with reviewing applications for pardon.
More applications will be considered, quite a lot of them, Shved said.
He noted that those convicted of violent crimes or attacks on law enforcement officers should not count on a pardon.
With regard to these individuals, I can say right away that we are unlikely to make a positive decision, the Prosecutor General stated.
