Alexander Lukashenko pardoned 30 Belarusians who were previously convicted of protest-related crimes.
The decision on this is contained in the decree signed by the President, number 343 “On pardoning convicted persons.”
The press service of the head of state reported on the event, calling the decision taken “a humane gesture towards these people.”
It is reported that those pardoned were given a chance to “return to normal life, to family and work.”
It is known that seven women and 23 men were pardoned.
Many of them are parents of minors and young children, the press service noted.
It is also reported that all persons who were nominated for pardon were “studied by the commission for the return of fugitives,” headed by Prosecutor General Andrei Shved.
All 30 people are said to have complied with the mandatory conditions of the pardon.
In particular, the citizens filed a petition for pardon, admitted their guilt, sincerely repented and promised to lead a law-abiding life, the press service noted.
And they added: the Ministry of Internal Affairs will monitor whether pardoned persons comply with law-abiding behavior.
