Belarus has learned which specialties in the country are the most sought after by applicants to the republic.
The head of the Main Directorate of Professional Education of the Ministry of Education, Sergei Pishchev, informed the general public about this.
In terms of higher education, the TOP most popular specialties among domestic applicants this year include:
- "Dentistry" at the Belarusian State Medical University;
- "global economy" at the Belarusian State University;
– “software engineering” at the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics.
Passing score
As Belta reports , according to the Ministry of Education representative, the passing score for the named specialties was 395 and 400.
A slightly lower score was recorded for the specialty “applied informatics” at BSU.
But there is such a peculiarity here that up to 80% of the guys entered medical universities this and last year on the conditions of targeted training. Because of this, the number of places for admission on a general basis was small, - explained Pishchev.
He also drew attention to the fact that this year there was an increase in the popularity of physics and mathematics specialties.
The highest competition
As for the specialties with the highest competition, the specialist ranked “graphic design and multimedia design” of the Yanka Kupala Grodno State University among the leaders.
According to him, the competition for this specialty at the specified university was more than 20 people per place.
There are also traditionally large competitions for IT specialties and specialties in the field of physical education and sports, the official reported.
Not quite an objective indicator
At the same time, he noted that the competition is “not a completely objective indicator of the popularity of a specialty.”
He explained: if, say, 5 budget places are announced for a certain specialty, and 20 applicants submit documents, then the competition is 4 people per place.
For example, for the specialty “forestry”, where the plan for admission to the budget is 100 people, in order to get a competition of 5 people per place, 500 people must submit documents, said Pishchev.
