What Lukashenko said about increasing the prestige of engineering and blue-collar jobs
The event raised the question of how to increase the interest of young people in engineering and make it as prestigious as IT specialties.
The President expressed the opinion that a set of measures is needed, including increasing the authority of engineers in society and decent wages.
The head of state noted that many people can now call themselves IT specialists to one degree or another; all young people know how to use computers and gadgets.
They are all IT specialists, but there are few engineers, there is a shortage. That is where the prestige comes from, Lukashenko noted.
He noted that there is an imbalance in this regard, and assured that engineering and blue-collar jobs will be raised to the highest level.
If we don’t do this now, then tomorrow there will be no time for gadgets, ” the president added.
