A new draft law is being developed in Russia, after the adoption of which artists previously recognized as foreign agents will be prohibited from receiving copyright payments.
The law will apply not only to artists and musicians, but also to writers, showmen and other celebrities.
Any income from creative activity will be credited to a special ruble account, the opening of which will be mandatory for a foreign agent. Receiving funds in any other way will be prohibited, News.ru quotes Vyacheslav Volodin as saying.
Who's on the list?
It is already known that if the bill is passed, the following artists may fall under its scope:
- Zemfira (included in the list of foreign agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice),
- Maxim Pokrovsky (included in the list of foreign agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice),
- Boris Grebenshchikov (included in the list of foreign agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice),
- Andrey Makarevich (included in the list of foreign agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice).
In addition, foreign agents Ilya Prusikin, singer Monetochka, Noize MC, Oxxxymiron, Alisher Morgenstern, Face are mentioned.
We may be talking about director Alexander Rodnyansky*, Semyon Slepakov*, Maxim Galkin*, Mikhail Shats*, Tatyana Lazareva*, Boris Akunin (Grigory Chkhartashvili)*, Lyudmila Ulitskaya*, Alexander Arkhangelsky*, Dmitry Glukhovsky* and other individuals included in the register of foreign agents.
The law applies to works of science, literature and art, as well as performances, phonograms, radio or television broadcasts, inventions and trademarks.
