An American woman named Asha Mandela has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the woman with the longest dreadlocks in the world.
Their length is 16.7 meters, although according to the official version, the hairstyle is much shorter and reaches only 6 meters in length.
Asha hasn't had her hair cut in over 25 years. Her hair weighs 19 kg. When wet, this figure is, of course, even greater.
Since it is not easy to dry such a shock of hair – it takes about 50 hours – the woman does not wash her hair very often.
She usually wears her hair in a special sling bag.
This is not the only inconvenience that Mandela has to put up with: her dreadlocks have caused her serious health problems.
The weight that the record holder carries on her head has led to a curvature of her spine. According to doctors, she may face paralysis.
In addition, a woman is at risk of infectious diseases that she can pick up from her hair.
That is why doctors insist that Asha get a haircut, but she is not going to follow their instructions, since she receives decent money for participating in photo shoots.
For reference
Dreadlocks are the most well-known name for tangled hair that is formed naturally (if you refuse to take care of your hair for a long time) or artificially (thanks to certain methods of tangling the hair into curls).
