The Guinness Book of Records contains many interesting pages. One of them is dedicated to sneakers.

Of course, not all at once, but only one model – Adidas Stan Smith.

Their history began in 1963, when Adidas France began developing sneakers ideal for tennis.

Their first "carrier" was Robert Aye, and after he retired, he was replaced by Stan Smith.

Stan Smiths soon gained popularity not only on the court but also off it, largely due to their minimalist design.

They can be recognized by their single-color leather surface, bright accent on the back and signature Adidas stripes, presented in the form of perforations.

These sneakers became record holders back in 1988: it was then that this model was named the best-selling in history.

Almost a quarter of a century later, in 2012, Adidas decided to stop producing the Stan Smith, but the company soon regretted the decision.

There were so many people who wanted to buy this model that production was resumed after just two years.

This model is currently produced under the Adidas Originals brand.

For reference

Sneakers are sports shoes that have become popular in everyday clothing.
