Ashrita Furman from the USA once walked 32 kilometers.
This is, of course, a decent distance, but clearly not a record.
However, the compilers of the Guinness Book of Records still paid attention to the walk.
After all, it turned out to be quite unusual. The thing is that there was a book on Furman's head.
How an American Set a Record with a Book
Ashrita Furman holds the record for the longest distance walked with a book on her head.
The record was set in January 2011 on one of the beaches of Bali.
Furman put the book on his head and went for a walk.
The man managed to walk 32 kilometers 180 meters without dropping the publication even once.
The duration of the unusual “journey” was 5 hours, 9 minutes and 58 seconds.
Thus, the average walking speed was quite high - about 6.2 kilometers per hour.
The achievement was entered into the Guinness Book of Records. Incidentally, it was this edition that the American placed on his head before starting his journey.
It is worth emphasizing that the above-described achievement is far from the only record set by Ashrita Furman. In total, the man has more than five hundred records.
