As is known, the average lifespan of two-toed sloths is 20 years.
But an animal named Jan managed to live almost 3 times longer: the pet of the Krefeld Zoo, which is located in Germany, celebrated his 54th birthday.
Thanks to this fact, his name appeared on the pages of the Guinness Book of Records.
In addition to setting new records, Jan has plenty to do. For example, the sloth recently became a father for the 22nd time.
Jan's homeland is the wild nature of South America.
It was here that he was found in 1970, when he was barely 6 months old. The sloth was transported to the zoo, where, according to staff, he is still doing well.
Like other sloths, Jan spends most of his time in trees.
This is due to the fact that these animals need a lot of time to digest food - sometimes this process takes several days or even weeks.
