An American named Anthony Mancinelli is recognized as the oldest practicing hairdresser, which is confirmed by entries from the Guinness Book of Records.
The man was originally from Naples, but at the age of 8 he became a resident of America together with his parents.
His working career began at the age of 12 – that’s when Anthony first tried his hand as a hairdresser.
His services were valued at 25 cents at that time.
In 1930, Mancinelli opened his own barbershop. His business stayed afloat for about 40 years. But even after that, the man remained faithful to his craft - at the age of 60, he began working in other barbershops and continued to do so even when he celebrated his 100th birthday.
True, at such a venerable age, Anthony went to work only once a week – on Saturdays.
On this day, he picked up scissors and a razor while at the barber shop of Aetonio and Pasquale Mugnano in a shopping center in Newberg, Minnesota, USA.
In one day, Mancinelli managed to serve 25-30 clients.
In July 2019, the record holder retired, but he did not live long without his beloved work – he died in September of the same year at the age of 108.
