People watch with bated breath as tightrope walkers move from one point to another over an abyss along a taut cable. Some walk without safety equipment, while others can perform acrobatic exercises.
The spectacle, frankly speaking, is not for the faint of heart or the easily impressed.
A resident of Foggy Albion, Mike Howard, decided to do something similar.
In September 2004, he set a world record by moving from one hot air balloon to another by walking along a beam.
In Yeovil, Somersetshire, UK, a man lifted two balloons into the air.
There was a beam between them, which Mike walked along only after the balloons had risen to a height of 6,522 meters.
The daredevil's achievement was captured on videotape.
The footage was later shown on the television show “Guinness World Records: 50 Years, 50 Records.”
It is worth noting that Mike had a career as a pilot in the past, but he completed the 6-meter journey blindfolded (but with a parachute on his back).
