Athletes set records and anti-records. In the latter case, it is a bit offensive, because you are effectively considered a loser.
American boxer Reggie Strickland found himself in approximately this situation. He became famous throughout the world thanks to his defeats.
American Strickland lost 276 fights over 18 years in his career.
He entered the ring 363 times, but remained the worst fighter in the history of the sport.
At the same time, his colleagues did not speak of Strickland as an outright loser.
On the contrary, they spoke of him as a good boxer, and some believed that such people made the fight more interesting.
And so it happened. Strickland's fights became famous, and despite being nicknamed "The Professional Loser," Reggie's popularity grew.
Towards the end of his career, matches featuring him were broadcast on HBO.
Reggie's fee for one fight was measured in thousands of dollars.
In 2005, the American decided that he had had enough of boxing and ended his sports career at the age of 37.
That same year, his name was entered into the Guinness Book of Records as a boxer who lost 276 matches.
