American Helen Wagner can hardly be called an actress who made a significant contribution to the development of cinema.
She never starred in any cinematic masterpieces.
Wagner had the status of a "serial" actress: she only took part in the creation of soap operas.
And yet, the American woman is mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records.
The thing is, she played the same role... for more than half a century.
Biography and career of Helen Wagner
Wagner was born in the early autumn of 1918 in the American state of Texas.
As a young woman, she received a degree from Monmouth College.
Wagner then became an actress. In the 1950s, she starred in several TV series.
In 1956, the American first played the role of Nancy Hughes in the television series As the World Turns.
The soap opera turned out to be long-running: it did not leave the screens for several decades.
In total, 54 seasons and almost 14 thousand episodes were shown.
Helen Wagner aged along with her character, as Nancy Hughes remained an active character on the show from 1956 to 2010.
Wagner passed away on May 1, 2010. She was 91 years old.
It is worth emphasizing that the soap opera As the World Turns did not last long without one of its leading actresses. The last episode was shown on September 17, 2010.
