In the south of Spain there is a municipality called Benalmadena.

In this region there is a very interesting landmark - the chapel of Santa Isabel de Ungría in Colomares.

More than 30 years ago, this building received the status of the smallest church on the planet.

Since then, the chapel has been mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records.

The facility was built in 1987.

The chapel is Catholic and belongs to the Bishopric of Malaga.

The area of the religious building is only 1.96 square meters.

Despite the small size of the chapel, liturgical services are held in it.

True, at such moments there is only one person present in the church - the priest. The rest of the people are forced to be outside the facility because there is simply not enough space for them.

In 1992, the building was included in the Guinness Book of Records with the comment: “The smallest church on the planet.”
