How long did the world's longest rainbow last: you could watch it for hours

It is unlikely that anyone will argue with the fact that all people (well, certainly most people) feel a sense of admiration when they see a rainbow in the sky.

Unfortunately, it quickly passes – as does the optical phenomenon itself.

Except for one of the rainbows that appeared in the sky on November 30, 2017 in Yangmingshan National Park.

She was able to hold out for a record time of 8 hours and 58 minutes.

This achievement is recorded in the Guinness Book of Records, as the rainbow in Taiwan definitely lasted longer than the previous “record holder” – the rainbow over Wetherby in the UK, which could be seen for 6 hours on March 14, 1994.

The rainbow observation was conducted at the Chinese Culture University, located on a mountainside north of Taipei.

Why is this important?

The fact is that the new record was set solely due to the location of the university with its several observation decks, while people standing below could not see the rainbow for the entire 8 hours and 58 minutes due to the rainbow's angle changing as the sun moved across the sky.

But the students from the university town were luckier: thanks to the fact that they were in elevated positions on the mountainside, they (surely) enjoyed watching the natural phenomenon.

Earlier we told you about a Japanese man who became a record holder for pull-ups in 24 hours.
