Canadian singer Joy Chapman has entered the Guinness Book of Records for hitting the lowest note among women.
Chapman, who lives in Surrey, British Columbia, was 52 years old when she achieved the feat.
Since childhood, she sang in church and school choirs, then chose the country direction. She also performed in cover bands.
Because of her unusual record, the singer has acquired new nicknames: now she is called Joylow or the New Bass Queen.
Chapman says she's always had a wide range, which has allowed her to even record male parts.
The woman had previously attempted to set a record, but the microphone could not detect her low voice, so the result could not be recorded.
But Joy did not give up - it was decided to use more sensitive equipment, which managed to capture the corresponding frequencies, as a result of which the artist got into the Guinness Book of Records.
In front of experts, Chapman hit the note C1, which is an octave lower than the previous record. This note is equivalent to 33.57 Hz - the sound Chapman made was similar to the growl of a bear.
