On May 5 this year, Orthodox Christians celebrate one of the biggest holidays – Easter, in connection with which we decided to share interesting records associated with this festive event.
Giant Easter cake
One of the largest Easter cakes was made in Yekaterinburg in 2019. The diameter of the giant Easter cake was 5 meters, and its height was 1.8 meters. The weight of the Easter cake is also impressive, which is 3769 kg.
To prepare the “giant”, 500 kg of raisins, 22 thousand eggs, more than 300 kg of butter, 200 kg of sugar fondant and 1.5 tons of flour were needed.
As for the decoration, the confectioners did a great job – they put an image of Yekaterinburg with a city pond and the future Cathedral of St. Catherine on the Easter cake.
Tsar-Easter
Rostov-on-Don has a long-standing tradition of baking a huge royal paskha every year, which is then presented as a gift to a city. For example, several years ago, craftsmen created a 1,140-kilogram product for residents of Moscow, and it was listed in the Guinness Book of Records.
670 kg of cottage cheese, 250 kg of sugar and about 100 kg of butter were used to produce Tsar Easter.
