In Japan there is a 35-kilometer road lined with trees on both sides.
It is called the Nikko Cedar Avenue and is located in the city of the same name in the Japanese prefecture of Tochigi.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, this road is the longest alley in the world.
History and Features of Nikko Cedar Avenue
The alley was started to be created in 1625. It was opened in 1648.
The road is lined with cryptomeria on both sides. This plant is also called "Japanese cedar". Cryptomeria is one of the symbols of the Land of the Rising Sun.
The total number of trees located along the road is 13 thousand.
The exact length of the alley is 35 kilometers 410 meters. Due to this indicator, the road has acquired the status of the longest alley on the planet.
The Nikko Cedar Avenue leads to the Nikko Toshogu Shinto shrine. Both sites are considered important "representatives" of Japan's cultural heritage.
