The tallest lighthouse in the world is located in Saudi Arabia.
The height of the object is about 132 meters.
The navigational landmark is called the Jeddah Lighthouse.
But there is an important nuance: the object does not belong to the so-called classic lighthouses.
The structure was erected for another purpose. However, signal lights are present on the object, which made it possible to classify it as a lighthouse.
The tallest classic lighthouse
Among traditional lighthouses, the record holder is the structure located in France, which is commonly called the “Lighthouse of the Island of Vierge”.
The navigational landmark began operating at the beginning of the 20th century.
The height of the object is 82.5 meters.
The second place in the list of the tallest classic lighthouses is occupied by the 77-meter La Lanterna - one of the symbols of the Italian city of Genoa. The lighthouse has been in operation since the 16th century.
The third place is taken by the French lighthouse Gatteville. It was built in 1835. Its height is about 75 meters.
The tallest lighthouse in Russia is a 73-meter structure called "Lesnoy Mole Stvorny Zadny" located in Saint Petersburg.
