Confectioners try their best to surprise the public by creating exclusive candies, releasing them in limited editions.

But there are products that cost a fortune not because they are made by famous confectioners, but because of the complexity of production.

This is how the most expensive chocolate in the world is made – “To’ak”, for one bar of which, as RR writes, they ask from 450 dollars.

Why is it so expensive?

First, the cocoa beans are harvested from Nacional trees, which have survived the witches' broom epidemic.

Secondly, the harvest is collected exclusively by hand, covered with banana leaves and left to ferment.

After 4-5 days, the raw materials are dried in the sun for about two weeks.

Thirdly, after drying, the beans ripen in storage for 6-12 months, after which everything is ground and a liquid mass is obtained.

Fourthly, the chocolate is then aged in barrels that previously held Don Julio tequila, Pedro Ximenez sherry, and Woodford Reserve bourbon for three years.

The chocolate is then turned into bars, packaged and placed in numbered wooden boxes of 100-200 pieces each.
