A Merino ram named Chris was found near Canberra, Australia, back in 2015.

It is believed that he was born on one of the local farms and at a young age ran away from his owners.

Over the years of living in the wild, Chris had grown so much hair that it was already difficult for him to walk.

The animal was caught by animal rights activists, after which the ram was sheared. Incidentally, the ram was under anesthesia during the operation.

The task was taken on by Australian champion sheep shearer Ian Elkin, who took 45 minutes to remove the 47cm thick layer of wool weighing more than 40 kilograms from the animal.

To imagine the scale of the "disaster", just know that this wool would be enough for 30 sweaters.

However, due to Chris's "riotous" lifestyle, it was not possible to use his wool commercially, so it was placed in the National Museum of Australia.

Thus, Chris got into the pages of the Guinness Book of Records, taking the place of Shrek - a sheep from whom 27 kilograms of wool were sheared, and Big Ben - the lamb gave as much as 29 kilograms of wool.
