The new Russian missile "Oreshnik" even in a non-nuclear version threatens catastrophic consequences for Europe.

The American publication The Washington Post writes about this, citing experts.

How the West perceived the use of "Oreshnik"

According to WP , the use of Oreshnik was a powerful signal to the West about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s determination to win in Ukraine, weaken the North Atlantic Alliance, keep Europe from helping Ukraine, and transform the security architecture in Europe in accordance with his will.

Some Western experts, the publication notes, regard the use of Oreshnik as the first shot in a new arms race that could last for decades.

"Oreshnik" poses a direct threat of potentially catastrophic consequences for Europe even in a non-nuclear implementation, WP cites the opinion of analysts.

An expert from the American Center for Naval Analyses, Decker Eveleth, notes that the Oreshnik can deliver 6 nuclear warheads to Europe in 15-20 minutes.

Due to the speed and trajectory of its flight, it would have been extremely difficult to intercept it, the expert added.

For reference

"Oreshnik" is a Russian experimental mobile ground-based missile system and a medium-range ballistic missile of the same name.
