An interesting event took place at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in a broad format.
During the event, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan engaged in a heated exchange.
The Belta agency reported the details of the incident.
Lukashenko's request
As is known, Belarus will chair the EAEU next year.
For this reason, Lukashenko initiated holding another summit at the end of May in Minsk.
He asked for observers from the EAEU to attend the event, arguing that the personal presence format is the most effective.
The Belarusian leader separately noted that his proposal does not apply to Armenia, since Pashinyan was absent from the current summit due to the coronavirus.
We know that you not only shaved your beard, but also fell ill a little. Therefore, we perceive you as a new, young (at least in appearance) member of our union, - his Belarusian colleague addressed the Armenian leader.
Dialogue between two leaders
He warned that Yerevan would participate in the May meeting exclusively via video link.
I would like to say in advance that our delegation will take part in the meeting via videoconference, he said.
Lukashenko responded as follows:
What's the problem? Is Minsk far away or is there no one to give you a ride? We will arrange delivery of your delegation if necessary.
According to the source, he had previously spoken publicly on this matter, and his statement remains valid.
The head of the Belarusian state notified that Yerevan’s proposal would be considered.
What is there to consider? You cannot consider my application because my application is not subject to consideration, Pashinyan responded to this.
Lukashenko explained:
We'll consider whether there might be no TV for you to perform.
To this the interlocutor replied that he saw no problems and suggested moving on to signing the documents.
