The current US presidential administration has indeed authorized the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch strikes with American long-range ATACMS missiles deep into Russia.
Moreover, Kyiv was given instructions regarding the targets for such actions.
This was stated by the coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council (NSC), John Kirby.
Apparently, we changed the guidelines and gave them instructions that they could use them to strike specific types of targets, ” the TASS news agency quotes the official as saying.
According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can currently use ATACMS “for self-defense in case of emergency.”
Earlier, on November 17, The New York Times, citing its own informed sources, reported that Joe Biden had given Kyiv the go-ahead to strike Russian territory using ATACMS.
A little later, the chief European diplomat Josep Borrell stated that some EU countries also allowed Kyiv to use their weapons to strike Russia.
