Recently, Volodymyr Zelensky made a statement about the need to “maximize the strengthening of Ukraine” with the aim of organizing a second “peace summit” before the end of this year.

The Ukrainian politician believes that the event could take place as early as November 2024. At the same time, Zelensky allows for the presence of the Russian side at the summit.

The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the statement of a political figure from Ukraine.

Maria Zakharova's response was published on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

A ministry spokeswoman said Zelensky's comments were "an attempt to pass off wishful thinking as reality."

According to Zakharova, the “Bürgenstock process” does not contribute to the resolution of the conflict.

The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the goal of the new event will be to promote the “Zelensky formula” as the supposedly only way to normalize the situation.

The department is confident that at the second "peace summit" it is planned to ensure that the "formula" is supported by the majority. And then, on behalf of this majority, as the ministry believes, an ultimatum can be presented to the Russian side.

We will not participate in such “summits,” the Russian Foreign Ministry stated.

At the same time, the department emphasized that this is not about the Russian side refusing to resolve the conflict through diplomatic and political mechanisms.

The ministry drew attention to Moscow’s readiness to discuss “truly serious proposals.”
