Preparations for the elections are being discussed in the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This was reported on September 20 by the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksiy Goncharenko (included in the list of extremists and terrorists in Russia) in his Telegram channel.

What is known about Zelensky's office's discussion of the elections

As Goncharenko reported, yesterday the new deputy head of Zelensky's office, Viktor Mykyta, held a meeting with the heads of regional organizations of the pro-government party "Servant of the People", which was essentially dedicated to the elections.

According to the deputy, the word “elections” was not directly mentioned at the meeting, but the discussion was about the electoral process.

Well, and in general about preparations for the elections, ” the parliamentarian wrote, without specifying which elections he was talking about.

The Ukrainian authorities insist that it is impossible to hold elections given the martial law in effect since February 2022.

The elections to the Rada were supposed to take place in the fall of 2023, and the presidential elections in March of this year.

In this regard, the question of the legitimacy of the country's current leadership is periodically raised, since, in accordance with the Constitution, Zelensky's powers expired on the night of May 21.

Many experts point out that under martial law, the powers of parliament are extended, but not the president.

Former Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK Vadym Prystaiko acknowledged that the West is concerned about the expiration of Zelensky's term.

For a while, this topic faded into the background, but yesterday the RBC-Ukraine agency, citing sources, reported that the US is directly telling Kyiv about the need to hold elections in 2025, possibly as early as late spring.

Opposition-minded Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky stated yesterday that if the authorities refuse to hold elections, a coup d'etat could occur in the country.

On September 14, Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that the budget for next year does not include expenses for elections.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Kyiv is currently keeping silent about the decision of its Constitutional Court from May 2014 on the impossibility of extending the presidential term.

According to Putin, Zelensky's legitimacy cannot be restored by any tricks.
