After a trip to Kyiv, German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz said that he would not lift the ban on the transfer of German Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine and would not allow strikes deep into Russia.
The German Chancellor made this statement while speaking in the Bundestag.
TASS quotes Scholz's words.
What Scholz said about strikes deep into Russia
The head of the German government assured that he will continue to do everything possible to prevent war between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance.
We will not allow strikes with dangerous weapons that we have supplied deep into Russian territory. The same applies to cruise missiles, Scholz said.
The German Chancellor added that Germany will continue to help Ukraine.
We will continue to support her, the head of the German government promised.
The German Chancellor visited Kyiv on December 2. This was Scholz's first visit to Ukraine in the last two and a half years.
During the visit, the head of the German government announced the transfer of weapons worth 650 million euros to Ukraine in December. The package includes, in particular, Leopard-1 tanks, IRIS-T air defense systems, attack and reconnaissance drones.
Germany ranks second in terms of arms supplies to Ukraine after the United States. To date, Berlin has allocated funds for military support to Ukraine and has committed to future expenditures in the amount of about 28 billion euros.
The agreement on Germany's budget for next year provides for the provision of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 4 billion euros, which is half as much as this year.
