The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted in the first reading a bill that effectively allows women to be mobilized.

Ukrainian MP Dmytro Razumkov reported this on his Telegram channel.

What's in the Women's Mobilization Bill

The bill allows for the mobilization of women who have completed basic military training.

As the deputy explained, after completing basic military training, a woman is included in the register of those liable for military service and can be mobilized.

Razumkov noted that the bill was supported by many deputies who either do not understand what they are voting for or support the mobilization of women, and called for the removal of this provision during the second reading.

According to the data in the card index on the website of the Ukrainian parliament, the bill was introduced by the head of the Ukrainian government Denys Shmyhal on September 29 and was adopted in the first reading on December 3.

On October 1, 2023, requirements for military registration of women with medical or pharmaceutical education came into force in Ukraine.

The specialty is considered to be subject to registration on the basis of both the diploma and the actual place of work.

Recently, proposals have been made in the country to mobilize all women. Thus, Rada deputy Solomiya Bobrovska stated the need for women aged 18 to 25 to undergo military training.

Deputy Maryana Bezuglaya proposed mobilizing women into the military industry and rear work.

At the end of November, Reuters reported that the United States was demanding that Kyiv lower the age of mobilization to 18.

Yesterday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the need to mobilize Ukrainians aged 18-25.
