Belarus' neighbor Poland has begun joint tactical exercises with NATO, TUMAK-24.

The event is taking place at the training ground in Orzysz in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, located just 70 km from the Russian border.

The exercises involve approximately 2,500 Polish and NATO soldiers, as well as 800 units of military equipment.

Belta reports on the event with reference to the RAR agency, which in turn refers to the press secretary of the 16th Mechanized Division.

According to her, the exercises will last until December 2. Polish and Lithuanian troops, as well as servicemen from the NATO battle group, are participating in them.

One of their key stages was the tank crossing of Lake Kępno.

To solve this problem, engineering, mechanized, artillery and aviation units were deployed.

The press secretary noted that the purpose of the exercises is to assess the ability of troops to quickly move through water obstacles.

This is an extremely important element, since the territory of the Warmia-Masuria Voivodeship is rich in lakes,” she said.

She added that bypassing water obstacles takes time, “which is invaluable in crisis situations.”

Based on these circumstances, the best solution was considered to be to wade across the lake, the agency’s interlocutor summed up.
