Belarus and Russia, under conditions of unprecedented sanctions pressure, not only survived, but became stronger.
This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.

The head of state noted that, in the conditions of unprecedented sanctions pressure in Belarus and Russia, the financial system has not been disrupted, basic sectors of the economy have been preserved, unemployment is at a minimum, and citizens’ incomes and savings are growing.
We didn’t just survive. We became stronger, the president stated.
He noted that, compared to 1999, when the Treaty on the establishment of the Union State was concluded, the GDP of both countries has increased by approximately two and a half times.
Trade turnover in 2023, Lukashenko continued, reached almost 55 billion dollars. This year, if the current growth rates are maintained, it will be 60 billion dollars.
But we need to ask ourselves: have we foreseen and done everything to ensure that such progress is continuous? – added the head of state.
