On November 18, 2024, Alexander Lukashenko signed decree number 425 “On the deprivation of military (special) ranks.”
By this document, former military personnel and employees of various security agencies (senior officers) are deprived of their military and special ranks.
The press service of the President of Belarus reports this, noting that more than two dozen people have been stripped of their military ranks, namely 21 former security officials.
The reason for this decision is said to be the illegal actions they committed “during the period of aggravation of the socio-political situation in 2020.”
These actions, it is noted, are “incompatible with the status of a military service member.”
This is why the heads of the security agencies approached the head of state with a proposal to strip the named individuals of their military and special ranks.
