During his visit to the Minsk stadium "Traktor", journalists asked Alexander Lukashenko a question.
They asked: can a woman be the President of Belarus?
Answering a question of interest to the press, the head of state recalled what he had already said: “Presidents are not made – Presidents are born.”
A person must naturally have fundamental qualities that will be useful to him as President, the Belarusian leader’s press service quotes him as saying.
According to him, the President’s work is very difficult and involves more than just protocol or representative functions.
For example, in Belarus, the head of state is also the acting commander-in-chief.
The powers of the President of the United States differ significantly from those vested in the presidents of Russia or Belarus, Lukashenko noted.
Here you have to get into everything: feed and water. This is the hardest work. You shouldn't burden a woman like that. This is not a ceremonial position for us, - he added.
He also noted: perhaps, with time, Belarus will also approach a style similar to the American one. But now it is different – not feminine.
A woman must also be a woman, the head of state noted.
He stressed that representatives of the fair sex cannot be burdened with such heavy responsibilities that fall on the shoulders of the President.
