Alexander Lukashenko addressed the head of the Russian Orthodox Church and congratulated Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' on his birthday.

The text of the message draws attention to the fact that the birthday boy’s entire life is an example of “selfless service to the ideals of goodness and mercy.”

The President also points out that the “tireless work” of the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, aimed at the benefit of Orthodoxy, gives people “confidence and peace.”

Through pastoral words calling for the preservation of Christian values and cultural heritage, our spiritual foundations are enriched, the head of state’s press service quotes him as saying.

The congratulations separately emphasize that the Patriarch’s contribution to the development of interethnic dialogue and the strengthening of friendly ties between Belarus and Russia is especially valuable.

Lukashenko wished the addressee of the message mental and physical health, peace and God's help in all matters.
