Russia needs legally binding agreements on Ukraine; a ceasefire will not do.

This was stated by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, in an interview with the “60 Minutes” program on the “Russia 1” channel.

The statement by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry is quoted by MIA "Russia Today" .

What Lavrov said about the ceasefire in Ukraine

The head of Russian diplomacy stated that Moscow will not agree to a ceasefire in the Ukrainian conflict.

According to him, Russia needs reliable and legally binding agreements.

These agreements, Lavrov continued, should be aimed at eliminating the main root causes of the Ukrainian conflict.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the West and Kyiv are now talking exclusively about a ceasefire.

About allowing the Kiev regime to build up its strength again, added the head of the Russian diplomatic mission.

He recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin had spoken about this on numerous occasions.

The Russian head of state said during a live broadcast last week that Moscow needs a lasting peace with security guarantees, not a truce.

Commenting on the initiative of the head of the Hungarian government Viktor Orban on a Christmas truce, Putin said that Russia had agreed to similar proposals at least three times, but Kyiv had refused.
