Some Western countries are considering changing their position on the conflict in Ukraine and relations with the Russian Federation.
This is connected with the victory of Donald Trump in the US elections.
The American television channel CNN reports this, citing sources.
Why the West is considering changing its position on Ukraine
According to CNN, some Western countries are considering changing their position on the Ukrainian conflict and relations with Russia due to expectations of a radical change in US foreign policy under Trump.
Trump's policy could bring about radical changes in the US approach to the conflict in Ukraine, the TV channel states.
As an example, CNN cites a call from German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the fact that French President Emmanuel Macron shook hands with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Brazil.
At the same time, the TV channel notes that the decision of the current US President Joseph Biden to strike deep into Russia has complicated the potential warming of relations between the West and Moscow.
On November 17, the American publication The New York Times, citing sources, reported that Biden approved the use of long-range ATACMS missiles for strikes deep into Russia.
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, stated that some countries of the community have also allowed the use of their weapons for strikes deep into Russia.
Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov warned yesterday that Russia's updated nuclear doctrine allows for a nuclear response to the use of Western non-nuclear missiles against Russia.
