Belarusian MPs, including the head of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeenko, were spotted in the Republic of South Africa.
As it became known, on November 3 (Sunday) a working visit to South Africa of the delegation of the National Assembly of Belarus, headed by the speaker of the lower house of parliament, began.
The press service of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus reported this on its official telegram channel.
It is noted that at the O.R. Tambo International Airport, Sergeenko was “warmly welcomed by the Vice President of the Pan-African Parliament of Jeddah, Mamar Mahamat.”
The Belarusian politician was given detailed information on preparations for the session of the Pan-African Parliament (the opening is scheduled for November 4).
He was also told about the challenges that the organization faces today.
Mamar Mahamat said that he considers the visit of the Belarusians to be a starting point for intensifying the partnership between the African Union and Minsk.
The press service noted: The Pan-African Parliament is gradually becoming one of the most influential organizations of the African Union.
Cooperation with the Belarusian parliament will allow Minsk to enter into a qualitatively different political dialogue with all countries that are members of the African Union.
In turn, Sergienko reported that the meeting took place “in a very warm, I would even say, hot African atmosphere.”
According to him, Belarus is expected in Africa “at a very high level.”
