The Central Electoral Commission of Belarus has registered a citizens' initiative group to collect signatures from voters in support of the nomination of the current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, as a presidential candidate.
This decision was made at the CEC meeting on October 29.

As Elena Grigorovich, head of the legal, analytical and methodological work department of the Central Election Commission, reported at the meeting, the documents submitted by Lukashenko’s initiative group comply with the requirements of the Electoral Code, and Lukashenko’s candidacy complies with the requirements of the Electoral Code and the Constitution.
Lukashenko's initiative group, headed by the chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Yuri Senko, submitted documents to the CEC on October 26, becoming the first to do so.
According to the calendar plan of organizational events for the preparation and holding of the presidential elections, the Central Election Commission accepts documents for the registration of initiative groups until November 1.
The signature collection is scheduled from November 7 to December 6. The Central Election Commission will accept documents for registration of candidates from December 7 to 21.
Registration of candidates will take place from December 22 to 31, and pre-election campaigning and voter information will take place from January 1 to 25.
Early voting starts on January 21, the main voting day is January 26.
The Central Election Commission will establish the election results no later than February 5. The second round, if necessary, will take place no later than February 9.
