Belarus expects to be granted the status of a BRICS partner country.
And the republic’s dream is full membership in the international association.
The corresponding statement was made by the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Maxim Ryzhenkov.
Belarus and BRICS
The country has applied to join BRICS in 2023.
In June of this year, Sergei Lavrov made a statement about the decision of the above-mentioned international organization to take a break from accepting new members.
However, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry spoke about the planned creation of a new category - “BRICS partner country”.
The Russian Foreign Minister promised to promote Belarus's acquisition of this status.
We, of course, very much expect that this status will be granted to Belarus, MIA " Russia Today " quotes Maxim Ryzhenkov as saying.
The head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: Minsk believes that our republic has the right to count on participation in BRICS.
Ryzhenkov noted that Belarus agrees with the countries that are part of the association on almost all issues related to politics.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that at the moment our country only has the opportunity to periodically participate in BRICS events, and this, according to the statesman, is “categorically insufficient.”
The status of a partner country of the union will provide Belarus with certain advantages, Ryzhenkov suggested.
Of course, the issue of membership is our dream, added the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
