In Moldova, the vote counting continues after the October 20 presidential election.
After 95 percent of the protocols have been processed, Maia Sandu is the leader.
The current head of the Moldovan state received 39.79 percent of the votes.
Next comes Alexander Stoianoglo. His intermediate result is 27.63 percent of the votes.
Referendum on Moldova's accession to the European Union
Let us recall that yesterday in Moldova not only presidential elections were held, but also a referendum on European integration.
The country's citizens who have the right to vote were asked the following question: "Do you support changing the constitution to allow Moldova to join the EU?"
97.66 percent of protocols have been processed.
At the moment, the number of supporters and opponents of the country's European integration is approximately equal.
However, the number of those who voted “for” is slightly higher: 721,760 against 721,672.
But it is worth emphasizing that, according to the first results of the vote count, the number of those opposed to Moldova’s entry into the union of European states was almost 17 percent higher.
As the votes were counted, the gap gradually narrowed, reports MIA Rossiya Segodnya .
It is emphasized that both the presidential elections and the referendum in Moldova were recognized as valid. After all, the turnout in both cases was more than 33.3 percent. In other words, the required threshold was exceeded.
